Are we in the cloud yet?

Cloud computing is an often used term these days. But what is the cloud precisely? Who owns it? How do we access it? And more importantly, are we using it as we should? As far as I’m concerned, I think we’ve been doing it all wrong. And now it seems Windows will come to the rescue.

Bye Bye Netscape (part 2)

Getting-on-the-first-page-of-Google

We have been testing many different strategies and techniques. We have found a great way to get your business on the first page of Google. Here’s the best part! It is possible to get your business on the first page of Google multiple times for the same keywords.

We are not going to tell you how we do this, because this is how we make our living. However, there is more to the story here and most people miss this part. After you are able to reach the top of Google, guess what happens? The other search engines fall into place as well. Just in case you’re still not understanding, Once you are on the top of Google, Yahoo, MSN and other tier 2 search engines will have you on the top of the search engines as well. So by getting on the top of Google organically (free) you will then end up on a bunch of other search engines for free as well.

Here’s the deal. You tell us what industry you’re in. Give me a list of your key word phrases that you want to target. Remember to tell me whether or not you want me to publish your comments. (Some folks want secrecy). I will then work to get your keyword phrases on the top of Google. After I have accomplished this, I will contact you and we can discuss whether or not you want to pay me for my services. Remember these will be key words that you have selected for your industry / niche.

So there you have it. This has to be the best deal of the century! You don’t have to pay me and hope that I can get your keyword phrases on the top of Google. Nope! You just wait until they are there and then you pay for them. If we accept your industry and keyword phrases we will contact you to let you know when we will start working on this for you.

Pimp my SemWeb

Browse films in a visually pleasing gallery at CineSpin. It’s probably the most prominent Freebase based web application. Not sure if it only works when you have an account… From the CineSpin Freebase entry:

CineSpin requires login to either freebase or sandbox depending on url used to access.
Requires Flash 9.

The value is in Freebase’s ontologies

I used Freebase for about an hour now. It’s impressive how smooth some things are implemented. It’s overwhelming how big the potential is and it’s important to see how much there’s still left. And interesting to see which niche Freebase will fill in the semantic web.

Freebase brings a nice and sensible collection of so called types. And there are nice form generated to edit the type attributes of some object. But it still doesn’t feel mature. While there’s much of the data in Wikipedia available, one still feels like there are many holes and caves, where information leaks… And I don’t feel sure there’s much value in adding data. It doesn’t flow back into wikipedia, AFAIK. And there’s no immediate propagation from wikipedia to Freebase, neither… Still promising:-)

I’m in! It’s Freebase time!

Got my Freebase invitation yesterday, and logged in today. Yeah! A semantic web application, well done, clean and professional. AJAX is used and just works in Firefox and Konqueror (well, I tested again, right now; the WYSIWYG editor doesn’t work in Konqi:-(

There’s a lot of data to browse, and it’s presented well structured. Quite some data comes from the info-boxes in Wikipedia. This data is used to provide really nice autocompletion in your profile!

I’ve watched their introduction video… nice!

More to come…
