"Well, we dropped yet another tool, Jakarta‘s Axis. This time however it wasn‘t because of lack of features or anything like that, it was WebSphere‘s fault. It seems the folks at IBM, after all these years, still can‘t build an app server worth a damn (No wonder Microsoft picked it for their infamous .Net vs WebSphere test). In this particular case, it was WebSphere‘s classloaders that were the culprit. By default they are set to parent first (contrary to what every j2ee developer presumes it should be), but even after changing them to parent last, there were still a ton of class loading issues. The real trouble was that sometimes it worked and other times it didn‘t. It was never consistent, no matter what combination of parent first/last was used." read more
Just announced they've reached a 2nd milestone for Apache Axis: http://www.osdir.com/Article5876.phtml - Alex
They've released a milestone release: http://ws.apache.org/axis2/releases.html, it looks like it might be a while before they ship though. Sanjeeva who works on Axis 2.0 would probably know
Does anyone know when this will ship?
