SiteHoppin Re-Launched as Domain Search Engine!

One of my greatest websites I ever made (and hard-coded all myself) using MediaWiki open-source as base platform is SiteHoppin.com.

SiteHoppin has been re-launched as a domain search engine.  Basically, it’s like Digg but we only store your URL infomation, no content whatsoever other than previews under iFrames.

You can also submit your blog/website URLs as they will get indexed by Google and other search engines much quicker.

Due to time constraints and the fact that SiteHoppin wasn’t generating any revenue, I had to put the project on hold while I took the time to rejuvenate all the blogs in our Zedomax Blog Network.

Anyways, SiteHoppin was launched on January 1st, 2008.  It’s getting to its anniversary soon so I’ve been spending more time fixing stuff.  Plus, I think this SiteHoppin site is a hidden jem on the internet.  It’s a site that lets you check out random sites in the domain search engine database too.

You will notice the SiteHoppin button on this blog on the upper-right corner.  If you press it, it will basically let you “site hop” Zedomax.com and other sites I have visited in the past.  (I intend to sell this randomizing technology for large companies in the near future so randomizing can be outsourced to SiteHoppin instead of taking up MySQL processing power on your server.  This is really great for large sites where randomizing can be very costly.)

I have just started developing SiteHoppin again as of couple days ago so there’s a LOT of fixing/bugs/upgrades that need to be done.

While that’s being done, don’t hesistate to press that “SiteHoppin” button to find out what it’s all about.

I’ve been giving out free Beer Credits, so if you want some, all you have to do is sign up and we will hook you up. =)

Cheer~

Your Web 2.0+ Consultant, Max

Budget Auto DIY Hack - How to Spray Paint Your Rims!

One of my friends is starting a plumbing business in San Francisco.  Well, he happens to be a crazy Z-addict and recently, he spray painted his rims he got off a Mercedes Benz.  The above picture is actually after the Nissan Z has been driven awhile(ignore the dirt, it looks good in real life), but it’s a good thing I took some pictures of the process so you can spray paint your rims. (the right way of course)

1) Anyways, first you will need some rims like below: (Take out any screws or bolts if you have any)

2) Now, start taping away the spots you don’t want painted.  In this case, my friend wanted to only spray paint the inside.

3) Once you are done taping, you will need to “buff” using a scouring pad. (the ones you use in the kitchen)

4) Before you start painting, place a powerful lamp over the rims such as this 500W Lamp.  (Anything around 200W and up should work)  The lamp will allow your spray paint to dry much faster so you can spray faster.

After buffing a little, you can start spray painting by applying 2-3 strokes at a time.  Don’t do all at once, you will flood the paint and leave watermarks.

Now, if you mess up during the first couple strokes, don’t be afraid to grab some cloth and clean it off to try again.

The MOST important part of spray painting is that you dont’ over-do it.  Try to do small strokes at a time.

5) After couple strokes, let the paint dry by the lamp, then keep strokin’ it baby!

6) Repeat step 5.

7) When you have spray painted everything nice with your desired color, spray paint again with Clear Coat spray paint, which will protect your paint.  (Same thing with clear coat spray paint, do 2-3 strokes at a time.)

8) Yey, let it dry for about an hour or two under the lamp, and you should be able to get a nice “professional” finish like this.  Now, this isn’t probably the best way to paint your rims as far as durability issues go but for about $20 of spray paint, you can add a new look to your rims.

Here’s the finished product, looks much nicer. (Note, I took the finished photos after my friend drove a lot and didn’t clean his rims but it looks nice when clean and you can’t tell that someone actually spray painted it.)

And yes, here’s an extra for you, a HOME-MADE cold-air intake for about $20 in parts from Lowes.  (I tell you, my plumber friend can do stuff like this really good.)  That sure beats buying one of those over-priced cold air intakes.

I can understand how valuable these things are as I have spray painted my rims myself(and utterly failed) and spent $300 on cold air intake.

Next time, I will try to see if I can get some pics of him doing it on someone else’s car.

(Homemade Cold Air Intake for $20 of parts from Lowe’s Hardware store)

Here’s a cool video of the intake too:

Bed Blog Search Engine Launched!

Bedzine Blog Search Engine has been launched today and I had to work (or play, hack, whatever) for the last 24 hours w/o sleep.

The main reason I am spending so much on this new blog search engine idea is the fact that it can help readers find what they “want”, not simply the latest blog posts on the home page.

Of course, our web stats been hitting the roof last couple days too, mainly due to people “searching” after landing on a blog post they are not interested in.

I will probably doing this to more of our blogs in the network and also probably provide custom integration services to those of you who want it but don’t have the skillz to implement this new feature.

I am really stuffed with a few client consultings right now but if you want this feature implemented to your blog theme “seamlessly’ by the inventor myself, please leave a coment or send an e-mail to zedomax [at] gmail.com and I will put you on my priority list of people who can take advantage of the new Web 3.0 (we’d like to say) style blogs.

Of course, I won’t charge much for the service, maybe $200 to $300 depending on your current blog theme and also provide free upgrades on the various different improvements that will be coming down the road.

If you are tech savvy though, I do highly suggest you to download my free Wordpress theme, which I just implemented on the Bedzine Blog.

(I have also uploaded to the Wordpress Theme section, so you should be able to download it through there soon.)

I’ve also have some great ideas on for advertisers on my new blog search engine, so if you are interested, make sure to shoot me an e-mail at zedomax [at] gmail.com.

We are only exclusively offering to this service and new advertising programs to the first-comers and quality blogs so, get on the waiting list before I die from working too much. )

Blog posts will continue hopefully by end of the week, if you want to guest post during the next couple days, please feel free to send me any blog posts related with DIY, Hacks, and HOWTOs with photos.

I am also working on new AJAX search function, which will allow search results to show without page re-load in the future.  That I might sell as I have been putting hours of work into it but let me know what you think I should do.

Robot Hack - How to Build a CNC Robot Router!

Click Here to View in Full Screen Mode

Here’s a really cool “robot” that is also a CNC machine to make different shape and sizes of “stuff” for you.

You can read details on how to build this CNC robot router here.

On another note, HackNMod, one of our favorites sites, was featured in a UK Newspaper. (Great job Joe!)

Using B.F.Hexapod with an additional floating pen attachment, and a utility I wrote to convert DXF files into translation commands for my p.Brain controller, I have got the start of a walking CNC router! Why… I don’t know.. it just seemed like a good idea at the time!

Gmail Hack - How to Store and Play MP3 Files on Gmail!

Here’s a no-brainer hack I posted on my Zedomax.Net blog that explains how GMail can be used for MP3 file storage and player:

(Of course, we might start seeing some software hackers take advantage over this and actually stream live MP3 Files to their iPhone/iPod Touch, great idea!)

Even better, you could open a separate GMail account just for your MP3s….wow what would happen if Google actually built this further to “sync” with iPod?  Crazy…

Although many probably already have noticed now, GMail can be used to store your MP3 Files and play them without separate MP3 player such as WinAmp or Windows Media Player.

I am not sure if this will work on the iPhone but it’s definitely a great idea if you can upload your favorite songs to your own GMail and E-mail then simply access them from any computer in the world.

You will see the option to “Play” when you open your E-mail in GMail and Google will “pop” a free MP3 player.

I believe this also works on many other audio formats.
