Gnumeric is a powerful and easy to use spreadsheet for GNOME (or Windows.

Gnumeric offers powerful features for dealing with spreadsheet data, with numerous sheet functions and a full plugin system. The plugin system extends the functionality of the spreadsheet, allowing for things like Perl or Python function scripting.

Gnumeric can read and write MS Excel files, and read a number of other formats such as Quattro, OpenCalc, XBase, HTML, text formats such as csv and XML (Gnumeric’s native format is XML).

Gnumeric can generate charts, as well as LaTeX and HTML, and numerous other formatted data.

One distinguishing feature of the Gnumeric project is a focus on statistical accuracy, which has been improved through cooperation with the R project.

Istanbul

Istanbul is a desktop session recorder for the Free Desktop.

It records your session into an Ogg Theora video file. To start the recording, you click on its icon in the notification area.

To stop you click its icon again. It works on Gnome, KDE, XFCE and others.
