So my plan is to have a different background color for the header than the background color for the body. The background color for the header pretty much encompasses everything I want it to encompass EXCEPT between the logo and the navigation there's a small gap of space that has the background color for the body instead of the background color for the header.

So I tried making a little spacer bar with the background color of the header in Paint Shop Pro to see if it would fill the gap, but it only made it look worse. So I'm not sure how to go about filling up that space so the entire header looks unified in one background color.

I was wondering if anyone familiar with Paint Shop Pro knew how to create shapes? I'm trying to create a left and right arrow with a black fill and a white border. Thanks.

How are you doing?

Simple question alothough im finding it hard to answer.

My online portfolio is nearly finished but ! ...i'm not sure as to the volume of work to show.

Most of my work to date is graphic art, of which I am very happy with.

Is 9-10 rows of 8 images 70px x 70px to much to expect a viewer to look at.

All my images are together in rows at the moment, ungrouped by tag etc..
Should i expect the viewer to CLICK again into sections or leave in basic groups ..?

Okay. So I'm working on a family recipe book that will end up being a christmas present for my generation of the family. It will include a bit of family history and popular recipes that our family loves to make - including things from pumpkin chocolate chip cookies to my mother's spaghetti recipe. It will include full bleed pictures and numerous colors.

My first question is the most important for the moment - how on earth do you save indesign files so that you can upload them to the internet? This is mostly important because otherwise, you guys can't help me with my work, and two, the printing process will be problematic. Thanks.

Another question I have it about the printing process itself. One of the companies I'm looking into is Lulu. They have a special section for cookbooks. I'd plan on making it a 7.5/7.5 square and bound using "Perfect Bound." Does anyone have any experience with this company? Or any other book printing companies? I'd prefer not to print from a UK company, as I'm almost as far from the UK as I can get. If you have any thoughts on the printing process, I'd definitely appreciate it.

If you can answer either of those, that would be great. Once I get the first question answered, I'll upload some of the pages I've completed to ask for your thoughts.

I am wanting to know whether the amount i charge should be based on my age experience and quality...or what?

What should i be charging for my work, should the price be lowered because of my age just to get people to take me seriously?

i have no clue at the moment, i see freelance designers charging around $250+ per logo and then i see websites doing logo's for $20

What do you suggest? please let me know what you think your recommendations and point me in the right direction

I was wondering how you can use a font you've downloaded on your website like you would with any other standard font face? I'm trying to use one for the content text.

I'm sure I've missed something really obvious here but I can't see what. I've got this site more or less worked out in FF how I want it: Gabriel Mossa Freelance Production Designer for Film and TV

The problem is if you go to Gabriel Mossa Freelance Production Designer for Film and TV and scroll down to the footer it is too big and different to the other pages in IE but fine in FF and Safari.

I'm looking to implement a calendar on an existing website for a non-profit arts organization. Currently, the client is using formatted HTML in an agenda style view. Solution should be free or cheap with no monthly service charges and flexible enough to integrate in a site with fairly narrow columns, ideally retaining the agenda view.

I used this font yesterday while editing a picture for someone. I can't remember what the font is, nor find it in my font book. I tried using What The Font, but the image isn't clear enough.

Same guy designed them, obviously. MY question though. First off, how did he do the tinted transparent middle? And my real question, how did he get it continue on into the "top banner" area above the advertisements? Sorry for the noobish questions, and I'm sure you guys get tired of dumb myspace questions. But I'm a third year graphic design student, and highly considering double majoring in web design now because that "grasp" I thought I had on the subject, is slowly becoming non-existent. I haven't taken a web design course since my freshmen year in college to be gentle. I really appreciate any help.

What strategies do you use to differentiate logos that are only words?

I'm in an awkward position because I need to create a "simple" logo with only one word and make it "stand out." For example, the Digg logo is very nice, but that doesn't "stand out" and the IBM logo isn't "simple" enough.

A friend of mine has been approached by a telephone company to direct and record a commercial for them. They have also asked him to create a billboard advert to match the campaign, which I am going to do!

But I was just wondering, has anyone on here design a full size billboard before? If so, how is it done?

The dimensions are 24mx20m! So obviosuly having a file that size at 300dpi would take a HUGE amount of ram! So are the usually done at a lower resolution or just done in parts?

Also, for using images on them, how is it possible to make the images that big without them losing clarity?

I have problem in my image when working in photoshop cs3 save for web. Every time i use save for web, the color of my image in my working space, is different when i save it for web.
