Most any contribution that helps people find, use or develop open source software is welcome on SWiK.
However, there are some contributions that aren’t quite as welcome. Here are the guidelines outlining what is not acceptable on SWiK. You have great power to change SWiK, use it responsibly.
Acceptable Edits
Don’t post spam: ie irrelevant commercial links or self-promotions
Don’t post crap: vandalism, garbage, etc.
Keep your tests to sandbox please, there you can test SWiK to your heart’s content.
Open source relevant
Don’t use the ‘open source project’ template for things that aren’t open source projects.
Don’t post about things that are totally unrelated to open source. It’s a loose rule, basically follow ‘acceptable edits’. Some offtopic stuff is ok, on your user page and in blogs. Stuff in the same context of open source like Javascript and .net is ok too.
Don’t copy that floppy
SWiK uses the creative commons share-alike license to relicense back content for re-use. Don’t post stuff that isn’t compatible with that license.
Don’t be evil
Follow the rules in the Official Terms: no harassment of other people, fraud, breaking the law, etc.
You can help us set guidelines even. If you have ideas for tweaks or comments on the guidelines, edit this page or post a comment.
