Ubuntu + Beryl

Ubuntu + Beryl

I've been living on uBuntu Linux almost full time now (been going on for almost 2 weeks). Here's a sample of what Beryl (a desktop enhancer) can do without using much resources :D

(I'll post the animated video when I have the time)

Second Life for all the family!

So I load up the Linux client for SL, and it starts me where my character had last logged off - I hadn't been here in over a year.

I walk a few minutes, and pass a crackhouse, a gun shop, and end up in a whorehouse.

Yeah, I *definitely* want my kids playing this... sigh.

This is a screenshot taken mid-rotate of my work computer running Xgl (Beryl, Emerald) under Ubuntu 6.06. (it's really aliased because I compressed the crap out of it. Each cube face is 2560x1024, that's a pretty huge image, yo.)

It makes computing so much fun!

Here's a screenshot of my current desktop.

The original image is that of the character Dave Bowman inside the central core of the HAL9000 computer, from the sci-fi classic “2001: A Space Odyssey”.

Following is a series of screenshots I’ve taken in sequence of how I recreated a recursive like effect on the cube faces of my current XGL & Beryl desktop.

I then set the previous screenshot (HAL Desktop7) as my desktop and applied the same to the top & bottom faces, repeat ad-infinitum.....

I stopped applying the previous screenshot here otherwise things would start getting a little cluttered.
