Open Source software for creating Slashdot-style discussion weblogs. Original Authors include Rob Malda, Brian Aker, Patrick Galbraith, Chris Nandor, and Jamie McCarthy.
In forums using Slashcode, posts are actually threaded: By the way they are indented, you can immediately tell who replied to whom. There are also options for thread display (Threaded; Nested; Flat; original item summary only with No Comments)
Its scoring system for posts (+5 to -1) is distinctive among forum software.
Members gain “karma” by making posts that other members find interesting or informative and they lose karma when others score their posts as offtopic, troll, or flamebait.
Non-members are allowed to post as “Anonymous Cowards” but their posts start at a score of zero, while members’ posts start at +1.
When viewing, you can filter out posts with a score below your chosen Threshold.
When viewing, you can also chose the Sort Order (Highest Scores First; Oldest First,...).
Digg.com and Kuro5hin.org are other high-profile sites that run Slashcode.
