  • Can each virtual desktop have a different wallpaper?

This is not possible.

  • Can I run games or applications that use 3d acceleration?

No, software cannot be run in Xgl with 3d acceleration. To get around this, one must run the application in a separate non-Xgl X server, such as through xgame.

On some platforms however, they may be a workaround to this limitation.

Configuration

  • How do you set keybindings for Compiz?

gconf-editor: /apps/compiz

  • How do you set the image on the desktop cube?

gconf-editor: /apps/compiz -> plugins/cube

Errors and Issues

  • Video is distorted with blocks and other distortion

Do not use X11 for video output, switch to Xv (Preferences – Desktop-Preferences-Multimedia Systems Selector-Video-Output-Xwindows: No Xv)
