WebKit, le moteur web Open Source qui se cache derrière Safari et Google Chrome, vient de passer avec succès le test de compatibilité aux standards Web Acid3, prenant l'ascendant sur Opera qui a réussi à afficher l'ensemble des éléments graphiques du test, sans toutefois satisfaire à 100% ses critères de performance. Globalement WebKit, Opera et Firefox ont une longueur d'avance dans la course à la compatibilité et ils laissent dans la poussière Internet Explorer dont la dernière mouture obtient péniblement la note de 21/100 au test Acid3...

With all of the complexity introduced by XUL and XPCOM, it made sense for Apple to choose something lighter for Safari.

In spite of its lofty rhetoric in support of a free Internet, Chrome isn’t Mozilla’s pièce de résistance. Turns out that it’s going to be Apple and Google who will usher in the future of browsers, and who will get to determine just what that future of browsers are going to look like:

But with Mozilla, we do not need to do anything, we can take existing models and API's which are available. Also, NPAPI support is already in the Gecko web rendering engine.
