Don't compare GNU/Linux with Windows or MacOS - they are not in the same game

Recently a blog post entitled “Why Desktop Linux is its own worst enemy has come across my feed-radar a few times. It’s yet another in the long line of “Linux ain’t ready yet” jeremiads and it doesn’t really say anything new yet it got on my nerves. Why?

How to Videos: Windows Presentation Foundation

I am starting to research Windows Presentation Foundation for a demonstration that I am working on and one of the resources that I was pointed to was the 3 videos that I am linking to below. In addition to that, there are some Virtual Labs, provided by Microsoft, that look promising. After I’ve gone through them, I will post the ones that I think are descent (from my perspective). In the meantime, check out these videos, when you have some time, especially the first one, if you are a beginner on the subject like I am.

Be careful when developing on Windows but hosting on Linux

I know this is kind of old and obvious but any way I had the problem with paths that are not case sensitive on Windows but case sensitive on Linux. Windows, C#'s Achilles' heel

Before doing Ruby full time I spent most of my days coding in C#. In those days C# wasn't quite as good as Java, but I did prefer the .net library. Visual Studio crashed, but not very often, and ReSharper made coding much less painful. I was developing on a Windows box, but I had never known any other development environment, so I didn't mind. I was happy.

Subversion Turns 1.5

Given the number of developers using Subversion, I'm surprised that no one on my blogroll has mentioned the new Subversion clients released in the last few weeks. Subversion, TortoiseSVN, and VisualSVN have all synchronized their version numbers on v1.5. I'll talk about TortoiseSVN and Subversion changes. VisualSVN has some minor enhancements that basically expose the features introduced by Subversion 1.5. I'll leave you to investigate them yourself.

Why Is So Hard for Windows Users to Understand That Linux Is Not Windows

This is just a rant (hopefully it will be regarded as pertinent and non-'laming') on why Windows users try Linux and return frustrated to Windows after several hours or days. I won't praise Linux and the way it works, I won't even compare and say 'here Linux is easier because ...', instead I have a few questions for all of you who blame Linux for not being and behaving like Windows.
