Things That Interest Me

Things That Interest Me

My interests are eclectic, and I’m always open to developing new ones.

High Level

  • Solving Interesting Problems
  • Algorithms
  • Systems
  • Building Useful Software

More Niggly Level

  • Test-Driven Development
  • Dynamic Programming Languages
  • Mathematical Software

Recent Things

  • Bayesian inference and data analysis, in the sense of E.T. Jaynes. Years ago, I somehow stopped reading Polya’s Mathematics and Plausible Reasoning just a couple chapters short of where it starts to develop some of these ideas, thereby probably depriving myself of what might have been one of the most significant pieces of content in the book, and instead ignorantly thinking for years that the book was about developing mathematical party tricks.

Other Interesting People and Things Spotted Around SWiK

  • Greg Meredith: Who always provides interesting conversations.
  • Alex Bosworth: From whose fevered imagination the idea for SWiK sprang in the first place.
