An appeals court has erased most of the doubt around Open Source licensing, permanently, in a decision that was extremely favorable toward projects like GNU, Creative Commons, Wikipedia, and Linux.

But by failing to take any firm ethical position and draw any line in the sand, CC is a missed opportunity...it is a criticism of the fact that there are no defined criteria by which any clauses can be categorically blocked. It is a criticism of the fact that there is no base level of freedom that every Creative Commons license must provide.

They also say they'll be releasing schematics under a Creative Commons license, making this another open hardware project.
