I used to use keyconfig to do this (stop backspace from causing the browser to back up a page), but you can just edit about.config to do the same without having to add an extension.
I use Firefox browser instead of Internet Explorer. When I would<sep/>something like "Locate Link Browser." (It would also open Firefox, but not without that annoying 'open' dialog box<sep/>
In the new method, no clearing element is used. This does not affect IE/Win which simply keeps enclosing the float as always (assuming the container has a stated dimension), but non-IE browsers will need a substitute for that element. Here's how it's done
