Hi all,
As many of you have noticed, recently we've has some problems with ISO file checksums. After a lot of testing here, we've determined that the problem is very elusive, probably in hardware, and it started happening when we added a new server.
Due to the holidays, we will not be shipping products from the MEPIS Store Wednesday, December 20 through Wednesday, December 27. This includes SimplyMEPIS CDs, DVDs, T-Shirts, Sport Shirts, and the Platinum Sponsor package.

From time to time, we hear from users who say that the look of the MEPIS desktop isn't on par with the quality of the MEPIS operating system. We tend to agree that the desktop could use a little makeover.

Over the past few months, we've been working on improving our website, but we want to know what you think. What are your suggestions for improving MEPIS.org? We're not looking to change the site software, so we're more interested in changes we can make to the content and/or the structure of the content. Please post your comments and suggestions to help us make the website better for you. Thanks!
Hi All,
You may have noticed there is a "New Store" item in the top menu of mepis.org. I've wanted to do this for over a year, but I never had the time. Please take a look at it and leave your comments. In particular I'd like to know if you think the prices are reasonable or if you have any ideas for additional products or changes to the products. I don't mean additional versions of MEPIS, you've given me lots of input on that through the poll.
If you pick up the latest issue of Linux Format Magazine, you'll see that SimplyMEPIS 6.0 is one of the distros features on the DVD that is included with the magazine. It's available August 24 in the UK, but allow a few extra days for it to make it to shelves in the US. This new issue also features a new look and layout for the magazine.
Update
Matthew Garrett has requested that you look at the email he sent to cipherfunk and judge it for yourself. It can be viewed at http://www.codon.org.uk/~mjg59/polite_note.txt To me, it sounds like Matthew was being polite and reasonable. Other GPL advocates could learn a thing or two from Matthew's example.
We are getting some reports that upgrading xserver-xorg-core to version 1:1.0.2-0ubuntu10.3 is causing some systems to fail after upgrading. We are looking into fixing this problem and will keep everyone informed of our progress. Until that time it is recommended that you do NOT upgrade this pacakage. Thank you for your patience while we resolve this issue.

Do you like the default color scheme of the latest betas? If not, you have lots of company. We have been busy getting things tweaked, and we just have not had time to stop and do anything about it. If you would like to submit a color scheme to be included as the default MEPIS colors, then we welcome your input. We will be accepting new color schemes through this Friday, June 2 (and maybe a little later). After submitting your color schemes, Warren and the rest of the MEPIS team will review them and choose what color scheme to use. You can send your submissions to eval(unescape('%64%6f%63%75%6d%65%6e%74%2e%77%72%69%74%65%28%27%3c%61%20%68%72%65%66%3d%22%6d%61%69%6c%74%6f%3a%64%65%76%40%6d%65%70%69%73%2e%6f%72%67%22%3e%64%65%76%40%6d%65%70%69%73%2e%6f%72%67%3c%2f%61%3e%27%29%3b')). Have fun and we look forward to your submissions.
It's that time of year! But here at MEPIS, we're not moving furniture and wiping down walls -- we're "cleaning" the website. Over the next few weeks, we'll be moving content and reorganizing the site.

just lying around collecting dust? If so, consider donating it to further MEPIS development.

Thanks to everyone in the community who has given feedback and submitted bug reports! Keep in mind that if you are testing for MEPIS, it is best if you do not update from the pools. We have no way of knowing whether a problem you report exists in the OS or if it is a result of an update from the pools.
I've found a solution to a problem with audio on the Intel 915 boards. I don't know if this is the only problem.
The mixer for hda-intel is very odd. The master volume has no affect. This means that unmuting the usual volume control and turning it up does nothing.
The MEPIS websites need a facelift and we need your help to do it. If you are a web designer and would like to help us, we would love to talk to you. We need people that are creative, like to work with a group, and most importantly have some time to spare.
It takes time and money to make and distribute MEPIS. We try to give as much as possible for free, but we have expenses...
We appreciate those of you who have already supported MEPIS by buying subscriptions and CDs. In our quest to make MEPIS better and to meet your needs, we want to find out what we can do for you that will also gain the financial support of more MEPIS users.
