nUbuntu Development - Update

I have finally changed the username and hostname from ‘ubuntu’ to ‘nubuntu’, which helps brand the Live CD more towards nUbuntu. I have also upgraded the current kernel to 2.6.15-19-386, and I should hopefully have it up to 2.6.15-20-386, before the next release. You can find some screenshots here.

Some of the additional applications which have been added include:

  • Ophcrack
  • Samdump2
  • Void11
  • Bkhive

If you would like to see any other applications added to nUbuntu before the next release please make a post in the nUbuntu forums, and it will be added. Package freeze is at 00:00 Friday morning this week. Also if you would like to see any other Kernel modules compiled into deb packages please make a post in the nUbuntu forums aswell.

A release is expected this weekend, so I hope you’re all anticipating the next release -)

nUbuntu Todo List

There are some major things I would like todo to nUbuntu which are important I feel, and they are:

  • Upgrading the Linux kernel to version 2.6.15-19-386.
  • Changing the default username from ‘ubuntu’ to ‘nubuntu’.
  • Changing the hostname form ‘ubuntu’ to ‘nubuntu’.
  • Compile additional modules such as the ndiswrapper.

If you have any knowledge regarding the Ubuntu Live CD build process please contact me at tomb@nubuntu.org
