The NetBeans folks have a new Introductory Tutorial to Ajax, now updated to the forthcoming NetBeans 6.5. Srenga points that the DataMashup Service Engine from Mural is Part of GlassFish ESB and also points to Manish's Tutorial on building a Server-Side Data Mashup. From Carol a Screencast on RESTful Comet, based on her previous posts. From Peter Mularien a look at Who is Contributing to SpringSource? using FishEye on SpringFrameworks Core. BTW, if you do the same with GlassFish (core) you will find mostly Sun folks; the bulk of the non-Sun contribution is in the smaller, reusable components, like grizzly, which makes sense as that's where people want their specific features in. From apaspai a description of how to configure GlassFish with Hibernate and MySQL (in Spanish, sorry, I couldn't resist). At MindBucket Paul provides a comparison of the (single-client) performance of Rails vs Merb. Rails is the incumbent in Ruby frameworks; Merb is a very interesting newcomer. Merb is thread-safe, and so will be Rails 2.0, but the comparison does not consider concurrency so that should be a key issue. The comparison includes numbers on GlassFish Server (and stay tuned for more fine-tuning for that case). From the NetBeans team, a Tutorial on Securing WebApps using Role-Based authentication. The tutorial has detailed step-by-step instructions using NetBeans 6.5 and GlassFish Server. Ludo addresses Rapid Deployment of Apps on GlassFish in a thread at the GlassFish Users Forum Also hints at future improvements (teaser!). Shay reports that Compass 2.1 M3 is now available with improved GlassFish support. From Mahipalsinh an explanation of how to Localize WebSynergy, so you can do it for your favorite language. Jeffrey reports that the trunk of NetBeans 6.5 now includes Facelets Support. The plan is for JSF 2.0 to include a presentation language evolved from Facelets; see Ed's latest post. Jamey reports that OpenSocial 0.8.1 is ready and Shindig 1.0 is very close. Good news for SocialSite as it relies on both. From Adam an announcement of a JavaEE Workshop. Adam says he is writing a book for O'Reilly - will check out with him, but I presume it is based on GlassFish Server. And a new acronym from Yip-Hin: MANGO, as in My SQL And Netbeans, Glassfish and Open. First time I hear it; cute name, but all I know is this entry. From Canada news of a partnership between Mitel and Sun that's leveraging VoIP and Sun's thin client technology (SunRays); see Partnership Description. And The Observatory continues with their series on reasons to use OpenSolaris; number 2 is DTrace. |
