I think I need to get back on haskell

[from notmuch] Haskell — First Impressions - It is notable that the Haskell says “what” and the Perl says “how”, but even that’s not the main thing. It’s such a tiny bit of redundancy, though. Insignificant.

Nothing at all like the monstrosities that copy-and-paste coders produce. It’s the kind of thing you’ve learned not to notice because it’s everywhere and there’s nothing you can do about it anyway. Gum on the sidewalk.

Haskell/Denotational semantics - To the programmer, the notions strict and lazy are of primary interest. While their full impact to program performance must be explained in terms of Graph Reduction, they root in denotational semantics.

It happens that lazy evaluation is an implementation technique for non-strict languages. One of the aims of this chapter is to familiarize the Haskell coder with the definition and involved notions such as ⊥ (Bottom).
