Was messing around with the latest release of kubuntu. Booted up the live cd and was imediatly treated to my powermac's fans spinning up to hurricane level...that was expected..but no matter what I tried I couldnt get the internet to work..airport or straight up ethernet. Reading up on the forums there are lots of bugs and general woes with this release granted they were mostly from apt-get upgrades but I think I will just hold off for a bit. Besides OS X is why I switched from linux in the first place...that still make me a "switcher" ?

Had a little trouble with one of my computers and had to run some command-line diagnostics on it. I've never done that before, but the Ubuntu shell made it easy and fixed those issues right up.

One of the cool and useful effects in xgl/compiz running under ubuntu linux on my new machine. You can peel back the corners of a maximized window to check what's underneath!
