DIY - How to Make Keyboard Thumbtacks!

If you are like me, you probably have bunch of old keyboards laying around.  Of course, one of the great ideas is to cut the cord and give it to your toddlers as kids.  But if you don’t have any kids, you can always make these cool thumbtacks.

Now these keyboard thumbtacks can serve more than one purpose, they can also priotize your notes from A-Z or 0-9 and control/alt keys for extra too.

Old hacked up keyboard keys + push pins = awesome keyboard thumb tacks! In just a few minutes I modified some keys from old keyboards, hot glued push pins inside of them, and presto, made some keyboard thumbtacks.

Photography DIY - How to Compose and Crop Photos!

Are you an avid photographer that lacks professional photographer skills?  Well, one of our bloggers Andrew Nealon at our GiiNii blog has create a simple “How to Compose and Crop Photos” blog post so you can learn the basics of digital photography.

When composing a photo, the photographer has two opportunities: the first while taking a picture and the second, while using a computer to touch up the photos.

When you line up a shot, try to use the most basic photography technique out there, the rule of thirds. A basic rule of thumb, the rule of thirds aims to break down an image into nine parts. When a photo follows the rule of thirds, we generally like what we see more than if the photo breaks the rule. Basically, you want to imagine four lines intersecting on your photos, cutting the image into thirds, like this:

Bottle Opener USB Flash Drive!

Bottle Opener USB Flash Drive!

Bottle Opener USB Flash Drive!

Although I rather use a lighter to open a beer bottle, for those of you who don’t smoke, you can get the Bottle Opener USB Flash Drive.

Just make sure you don’t take this to a raving party with tons of people as you might regret lending it to the partier next to you with all that classified data inside the Flash Drive.

The TrekStor USB thumb drive doubles as a bottle opener. Yep, it can store between 1GB and 16GB of data, and it can open up your frosty brews as well. Make it your keychain and you’ll always have whatever data you want with you, be it documents or media files, and you’ll never be searching for a bottle opener again. It makes regular old thumb drives look downright featureless in comparison.

Electric Bike with Automatic 8-Speed Transmission!

If you thought you could have it all, this electric bike with 8-speed automatic transmission might be the way to commute your way to work.

This is the electric bicycle that uses automatic transmission to downshift into a lower gear when it senses a hill, upshifts for rapid acceleration up to 20 mph on flats, or allows you to pedal normally because the motor can be disengaged at your command. Powered by a 750-watt electric motor housed in the horizontal chain and motor assembly that provides 1 hp, the 8-speed automatic transmission is capable of four modes of operation, all controlled by a thumb toggle on the handlebars: a setting for rapid acceleration, a low gear setting for inclines (but slower acceleration), and a setting for manual gear shifting that disengages the motor to preserve battery life.

iPhone 3G Hacks - How to Build a Bluetooth Handgun Handset for your iPhone!

iPhone Hack - How to Build a Bluetooth Handgun Handset for your iPhone!

Here’s a really pointless but fun DIY for building a bluetooth handgun that will answer your calls at the pull of the trigger.  Great, all that for answering a phone?  Isn’t it a little too much reverse-engineering?

How to turn an airsoft handgun and a bluetooth headset into a fun, fully functional handset for your iPhone. Pull the trigger to receive calls and to, um, end them. Listen through the barrel, and talk into the grip.

I think everyone has made the thumb and forefinger gun-to-the-head sign when someone unpleasant shows up on their caller ID. Eli and I thought it would be fun to make an actual gun handset, and it turned out to be surprisingly straightforward. No glue or powertools were required.
