It is powerful

Pichon is an iconic Bordeaux wine sourced from Medoc region in France’s Bordeaux region. These full-bodied, tannic wines boast elegant character with aromas of cassis, cedar wood, tobacco leaf and wet earth which only get better with age. Pichon wines are created using blends of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from different plots near Gironde estuary; making for ideal growing conditions for Cabernet-sauvignon varieties.

Since 1758, Chateau Pichon Baron has been owned and managed by the Pauillac family – making it one of the Medoc’s premier Second Growths. Its magnificent 19th-century castle stands as an emblematic testament to this historic estate while the vineyards – situated on perfectly draining Medoc gravel soils – produce complex yet refined wines. Chateau Pichon Baron strives to convey this exceptional terroir through its wines while upholding high standards of excellence in their production process.

This year’s Pichon Baron displays the same combination of dark berry fruit and freshness that has become its hallmark. Furthermore, its fine grain structure gives way to excellent concentration – this powerful yet sumptuous wine will reward patient cellaring.

Pichon Baron stands as an epitome of Bordeaux blend excellence, garnering critical acclaim worldwide. Renowned wine critic James Suckling awarded this vintage with 97 points, declaring it to be “another great vintage.” Meanwhile, Jeb Dunnuck from Wine Advocate gave it 98+ points and declared it to be his favourite Pichon-Longueville Baron since 1990.

The 2020 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron is a blend of 50% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot grown on gravelly soils in Pauillac commune. This wine features dense garnet hues with delicate notes of black currant, espresso, licorice and chocolate aromas – it will age gracefully over time and should be enjoyed after 2028.

It is affordable

Pichon is an effective design tool that simplifies the creative process for designers. It gives access to an expansive library of stock elements and editing tools designed to make designs unique and creative; easy sharing/collaboration among colleagues; as well as offering an user-friendly user interface and affordable costs for professional designers.

Pichon Baron boasts an exceptional terroir composed of gravel-rich plots located near the Gironde estuary. Their 73 hectares of vines benefit from exquisite parcel selection techniques that yield wines of great finesse and incomparable concentration, thanks to Christian Seely leading their technical team since 2001 and realizing every part of their vineyard’s potential.

Decanter’s Georgie Hindle declared the 2022 vintage of Pichon Baron as a true classic in development, receiving an impressive score of 97 points and being priced at PS1,620 per bottle in bond (12x75cl). Though more costly than previous vintages of this wine, its exceptional quality may make up for any differences.

Its vibrant hue echoes the rich, concentrated and lengthy flavors on its palate, which features deep aromas such as licorice, black fruits and lead pencil on its nose; fresh currants and blackberries fill your mouth before being followed by underbrush, cigar smoke, smoked meat aromas and spice in its finish.

Raphael Pichon, countertenor and founder of Ensemble Pygmalion, used his expertise in period performance to craft an elegant yet dramatic reading of this symphonic piece that underscored the tension between action and contemplation, providing a nuanced performance which was vibrant with life.
