What is Adobe RoboHelp?

Adobe RoboHelp is a Help Authoring Tool developed originally by Blue Sky Software and later acquired by Macromedia. It can be used to develop help systems, e-learning content and knowledge bases.

Host and deploy next-generation Responsive HTML5 layouts with intuitive navigation and industry-leading output search, showing or hiding widgets according to user needs.

HTML5 Web Administrator

HTML5 is the latest markup language used to develop websites. Web administrators employ it to design graphical user interfaces, improve search functionality, and enhance online content overall. They may also employ technical editing from external sources in order to optimize it for web use – possessing advanced knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript/XML languages.

Adobe RoboHelp Server now allows you to host and track help, policy and procedure, knowledge base content with an HTML5 platform. Personalize user experiences using its Frameless Responsive HTML5 layouts while taking advantage of powerful analytics and reporting capabilities for content optimization. Managing authentication using single sign-on (SSO) support and assign individual or group user rights provides secure administration.

Adobe RoboHelp Server software uses projects created in Adobe RoboHelp to generate real-time end-user reports on your online Help system, providing invaluable insight into how users search and navigate your documentation – providing invaluable knowledge of which areas require updating/enhancing, as well as which topics most benefit your customers. In addition, this system includes an easy administrative web interface for managing projects, users and usage reports – you can even migrate project, user and area data from RoboHelp Server 10 directly into Adobe RoboHelp Server 11.

HTML5 Web Review

Adobe has fully embraced HTML5, and this can be seen through RoboHelp’s responsive design support. These layouts automatically adapt to suit the screen size of whichever device is being used to view a topic, meaning your help will look great across devices from desktop computers all the way down to tiny mobile phones!

Establishing a responsive layout is relatively straightforward if you use one of the ready-to-go layouts found in the Gallery; if you wish to change colors or add different images for buttons and logos, using our user-friendly UI makes this even simpler.

RoboHelp makes live collaboration easier between reviewers and subject matter experts using its online review capabilities, including sharing topics within context with team members – providing you with all of the feedback that’s necessary before publishing content to target audiences.

If you publish the same RoboHelp project to multiple locations, the Publish Profiles dialog box makes updating server information for each project easy and saves you time by eliminating manual changes to each XML file. In addition, images and snippets in topics can now be blocked from being updated during synchronisation processes if desired.

PDF Enhancements

Adobe RoboHelp was initially developed by Blue Sky Software before it was eventually acquired by Macromedia in 2003 as part of their Technical Communication Suite (TCS). Today it can be purchased as an annual subscription option.

Adobe RoboHelp’s newest version offers several enhancements that make content creation and delivery simpler across multiple platforms. Responsive HTML5 output type automatically adapts layout based on screen size for optimal reading experience; Microcontent support enables usage in chatbots, search engine snippets and voice response systems is also provided by this new version of RoboHelp.

Now easier than ever before to manage and apply styles to topics with the introduction of a revamped CSS Editor, adding table header row styles is easier than ever and there is an additional field for topic notes. Furthermore, you can now create and edit Table of Contents online or book format and even choose whether chapters start on new pages or continue from where they ended. Finally, DeepL makes adding custom metadata possible for PDFs as well as new ways for authoring.

As part of its improvements, an Image report now makes it easier to spot images with no alt text and to display their titles in a separate column. Furthermore, you can now clear inline formatting for blocks of text by selecting it and clicking the Text Formatting panel in Content Properties panel.

HTML5 Mobile App

People increasingly rely on mobile devices to access the Web, creating a demand for apps that are platform and device independent. HTML5 makes this easier as it makes designing and deploying Web applications that function across devices and operating systems much simpler.

Adobe RoboHelp allows you to host and track content using an HTML5 platform that supports mobile and desktop browsers. Use responsive layouts to provide users with personalized experiences; manage it all using its powerful analytics and reporting features; and authenticate securely with its single sign-on (SSO) support.

To create a mobile app for your project, select the Mobile App output preset in RoboHelp and specify all relevant information as follows.

Multi-Context Support

Establish a glossary with terms your audience needs to comprehend for an authentic user experience, importing glossary content from Word files or FrameMaker documents into RoboHelp projects. Selecting detail keywords during import displays additional information about real and mapped interfaces to help determine if an imported glossary needs updating with additional terms.

Organization is key when creating structured content. A topic serves as the container for text, multimedia files, links, and any other forms of data that make up your project’s structure. When you add new topics in your project, they are automatically added to a folder in the Contents panel where they can then be organized using either tree view or table of contents for easy organization.

The newly designed Table of Contents in the authoring area provides for enhanced organization and navigation, as well as responsive layouts for optimal viewing and reading experiences across devices.

Use Microcontent to deliver information-rich snippets within search results and in-context help for users quickly finding what they need and answering questions in context. Use this technique to assist users quickly finding what they’re searching for while offering answers when asked directly by them.

Information-rich microcontent can be an incredibly persuasive force online, where viewers scan quickly. Studies indicate that users form opinions based on short bursts of content like headlines and summaries without reading an entire article; people may be convinced by such short pieces to click links, read further articles or even share the material further.

Adobe RoboHelp makes it possible to easily and quickly create Microcontent that appears as featured snippets in search results and In-Context help, powering chatbots. Snippets can also be published as small files that developers can include with an app without linking back to full help.

Adobe RoboHelp’s Microcontent feature makes it possible to quickly create bite-size chunks of information digestible by artificial intelligence (AI) applications, or publish short answers to user inquiries such as FAQs via its search function.

Microcontent topics are self-contained units of information that contain text, images, multimedia files and tables. Formatting options include various text effects and layouts as well as being displayed in multiple views. They can also be organized into folders for easier organization – for creating Table of Contents index or viewing a list of topics etc. Additionally you can add post generation scripts after output has been created – for more details please refer to Working with Topics.
